The Best Cheap Bars in Grand Rapids
Being broke in a city isn’t an easy task, especially when you want to have a good time with your friends at the local watering hole. Whether it’s easttown, west town, or downtown – we have you covered with our favorite cheap bar destinations for when you only have a couple dollars to your name.
Fulton Street Pub & Grill
The gem of Grand Rapids West Side, Fulton Street Pub & Grill is one of the best kept secrets in Grand Rapids. From the outside the bar looks pretty dive-bar-esque, but step inside and have your expectations changed. The inside is very well-lit and clean, featuring: flat screen TV’s, billiards, an open karaoke stage, spacious seating, a friendly staff, and the best drinks prices around. Depending on the night, a draft runs anywhere from $2-$5 – with wells and other shots being in a similar range. Events, such as karaoke, open-mic, trivia, and Keno happen throughout the week. Free parking, the fenced off patio, and an attentive and friendly staff is definitely a huge plus.
Monday- $2 off Michigan beer/ $2 Miller Products
Tuesday- $2 drafts (PBR and Bud light), $2 wells
Wednesday- $1 retro beer cans
Thursday- $2.5 Aluminum pint Budweiser/Bud light
Friday -$3 specialty shots
Saturday- $3 specialty shots
The Tin Can Bar, Grand Rapids
Tall boys galore, signature Faygo bombs, frozen pudding shots, and over 150 beers offered make this bar live up to their slogan of “Good beer, cheap friends”. The drinks are relatively cheap, with a friendly staff, open seating area, multiple TV’s, small seating section outside, and free games, such as beer pong and Jenga. This bar can get crowded fast Thursdays-Saturday and parking is somewhat limited to the meters.
Monday – half off select cans
Tuesday – trivia night (has its own specials) then 9pm to close is $3 Tall boys
Wednesday – $1 off Founders cans
Thursday – $1 Grilled Cheese and $2 Hamms cans.
Pyramid Scheme Bar/ Meanwhile Bar
Bar/ venue that offers cheap drinks and multiple pinball machines. If you can stand the crowd of hipsters and pretentious folks and dark atmosphere, then this place is great. They pour the drinks tall, sell t-shirts and prints based on the art around the bar, have a good selection of music in the juke box, and usually are not too busy (when there is not a concert or event happening). If you’re located in East Town, check out the Meanwhile Bar, Inc. Similar atmosphere, but features a huge outdoor patio located in the back. Very laidback environment with modest drink offerings.
