Top Five Bars to Host Your Fantasy Football Draft

It’s fantasy football season again, and with that comes the best part of the whole ordeal: the draft! This is a time of limitless possibilities, before your starting running back tears his ACL and you’re stuck with a bunch of scrubs for 15 ever loving weeks on your way to the toilet bowl trophy.

One of the best, and most underrated, parts of the draft is getting together with your friends to share in their hope and misery. With that in mind, Beer O’Clock GR has come up with the top five GR bars to host your fantasy football draft at.

Our criteria for this is simple. It must be a sports bar, there needs to be good drink specials, and there needs to be enough room to accommodate a group of 10 – 14 people (the average size of a league). So, in no particular order, here’s our list of the best five options for you.

1. Buffalo Wild Wings (Downtown Grand Rapids)

A classic, and obvious, addition to our list. Buffalo Wild Wings, or BW3 as most Michiganders fondly refer to it (did you know people other parts of the county will look at you like you’re crazy when you call it that? Then they’ll proceed to call it B-Dubs or something equally silly, and you won’t want to be their friend anymore). BW3 has everything you’re looking for: a large amount of space, chicken wings, TV’s as far as the eye can see.

Best Drink Special: Happy hour till 6PM with $1 off all tall drafts

2. GP Sports Bar (at the Amway Grand)

For the fancy pants fantasy football league we present GP Sports Lounge. It’s at the Amway Grand, so you know it’s going to be (relatively) upscale, but it still comes with all the amenities you’ll be looking for. Bonus points: it’s not usually packed, so finding space for your crew won’t be too hard.

Best Drink Special: $5 Sangria on Wednesdays

3. Ucello’s Ristorante (Grand Rapids location)

As most of you know there are several Ucello’s locations in the area, so picking our favorite one came down one main factor: our name is Beer O’Clock GR and this is one of two locations that are in Grand Rapids. Bonus points if you check out the new downtown Monroe Center location! It doesn’t get more hip than that.

Featuring both a dining area and a sports bar, you’re going to want to arrive early to grab a spot because this place gets hopping.

Best Drink Special: $1 off all 14oz Michigan Drafts on Thursdays

4. The Mitten Brewing Company

So we know that the Mitten is traditionally a baseball bar, but let’s face it, the Tigers suck this year. Go get some awesome pizza and have your fantasy football draft there instead.

Best Drink Special: 25% off beer flights on Mondays

5. Peppino’s Pizza (Downtown Grand Rapids)

A Grand Rapids mainstay, this place is a utopian dream for sports fans of all shapes and sizes. They’ve got big TVs, little TVs, TVs that go on your table. So many TVs! They also have this really cool round booth that would be perfect for a group of nerdy sports fans to host a draft. Just saying.

Drinks and bar food are plentiful, as are your options for weekly specials and Happy Hour deals. Boom goes the dynamite.

Best Drink Special: $2 Bud Light Pints on Mondays
