Brewery Vivant’s claim to fame in a city full of breweries is that it is the first and only LEEDS-certified microbrewery in Grand Rapids, MI. On top of this novelty, Vivant serves Belgian-style brews and fantastic French-inspired tavern fare.
The building itself looks like a chapel, complete with huge, filigreed doors, stained glass windows and a vaulted ceiling. The beer is served in appropriate chalices and pint glasses, which are displayed in a lovely lighted cabinet behind the bar. It makes you feel a little like a monk, which may be the goal.
Amazing beer, amazing food. One of the best breweries in Grand Rapids. Certainly one of Beer O’Clock’s favorite.
