Tip Top Deluxe Bar and Grill

The Tip Top Deluxe Bar and Grill is the place you bring your big city friends to to show them what a real bar is. This place has everything; beer, atmosphere, amazing music, and beer.

The night I was there, I did not see a single non-beer drinker. This is a beer drinkin’ joint. Pitcher of PBR? Coming up. Draft of Dark Horse Reign in Blood Pale Ale? Okey Dokey! I couldn’t decide between two Dark Horse offerings and while I was dithering, the waitress, unasked, brought me a sample of each to try. (I liked that girl.) Sustenance for the starving includes nachos, burgers topped with pulled pork and bacon, fries, the usual.

This is an old neighborhood bar that was invaded by neo hipbilly metalheads . Most people looked to be tattooed 20’s and 30’s, sprinkled with some older folks and occasional nuggets of college crowd.  Whoever you are, you will feel comfortable here. It has an old timey tin ceiling, newer booths, tables, and chairs, clean restrooms and a bar that takes up an entire wall. There’s room for about 100 patrons, so get there early if you want to be sure to get in.

The main reason to go to the Tip Top is the music. They do a phenomenal job of bringing in a variety of local and touring musicians who play a wide range of music.  Look at their events page for who’s playing in the next couple of months.  It’s good to check in case they are sold out for the night.  Covers range from $6 to (rarely) $25 for the 2 or 3 formal shows a week.  The Tip Top has a small stage and good acoustics.  There isn’t a bad seat in the place.  Save me one?
